Default How far do i have to drive to buy land for $500 acre

Im looking to make a small investment in maybe 5-10 acres of land for a cheap price. From what i hear some sell for $100 acre. But of course i doubt its close to the area.So how far would i have to drive away from the city of dallas (north, south, east, west)till i start seeing land for sale for about $500 an acre? And exactly where ?Or am i dreaming of these numbers as they don't exist anymore.

Wow, I imagine you are probably going to have to go pretty far out for that.

We have 13 acres north of Commerce, and that ran us $48,000 a few years back.

Good luck.

jeffari is in a good area with lots of potential (there is a college in Commerce and it's convenient to Dallas). Around Bonham was cheap a few years ago and now it is hot..

OMG, You are bringing back memories... I sold some land about 12 years ago for $800 an acre in Erath county, south of Grandbury. That is the closest to the metroplex that I have seen land this cheap.

Today there is some land for sale in Delta county for 2K an acre, there is also 50 acres close to Carlsbad Caverns at $599 an acre. Another tract close to there of 101 acres for $438 an acre, then there is a tract of almost 980 acres in West Texas in Parmer county at $500 an acre.

From my limited experience, low prices of $100/acre and small property size (5-10 acres) are mutually exclusive.
If the price/acre is so low, you usually have to buy hundreds or thousands of acres.
If the property size is so small (5-10 acres), it usually costs tens of thousands per acre.

I have never seen 10 acres for sale for $100/acre = $1000 total.
