Frisco is good but watch out for the new home builders, they can present a problem when it comes time to sell your home. I have been in my home going on 6 yrs. now and it is worth what I bought it for in 2002. The build out here will be over in 2012-2015. Then you will see the increases in property like west Plano.

Be aware of the commute time(60+ mins unless you have flexible hours) from the far out burbs like Frisco/McKinney if you take the downtown job.

True, very true. Not many options for a "straight shot" except the highways or major roads that are congested.

I'd stick w/ Richardson, North Dallas and even Garland and you would have MANY options for your commute that don't always have to involve a highway. When the highways are moving along they are great for a "straight shot" but if there is a backup or major accident you can take the side streets and get around VERY easily.

Very good suggestions. If you aren't adverse to using DART's rail system, you can throw Plano into the mix as well. My sister lives in Rowlett and works downtown. She drives in to Garland then rides the train the rest of the way.

I'm in Sunnyvale, and on the occasions I have to be downtown, I drive to the transit center on Duck Creek and catch the bus into town.

Yes, the direct DART buses at the Park n Rides as well as the DART train are options in Garland. There are several DART Park n Rides in Garland as well as two train stations.

I was going to give an example earlier of just what CAN happen. On Friday afternoon while the kids were out of school we went down to NorthPark. After grabbing a bite to eat we started to head home close to 6:30. Before we could get on 75 we noticed it was at a STAND STILL! We went down the service road going north to Royal Lane. Headed on over to Skillman to Forest to N. Garland Ave and on up to Firewheel. We were home in about 25 minutes w/ very little traffic. If you were in that mess and home was in Allen or McKinney your options were VERY SLIM! There were many other alternate routes we could have taken but that one worked out well and quick.

I think if you asked anyone who grew up in the Dallas area, we would say Frisco is the worst of all.

I thought you drove off the edge of the Earth if you attempted to go all the way out to Frisco?!?!?!

Didn't we read a story about some guy called Odysseus that attempted that voyage?

Since your job is downtown I would certainly use easy access to a Dart rail line or park & ride into the equation. I live in Mesquite and they are not a part of Dart. I have to drive over to the Garland Park & Ride on Duck creek to go to work downtown. It takes me 25 minutes to the park & ride and another 25 minutes from the park & ride to my office. It could save 25 minutes if Mesquite was on the Dart system but it would take roughly the same amount of time to drive from my home to my office.
