Default Melissa, TX

Ok, anyone out there live in Melissa or know anyone who lives in Melissa? Do you like it? Pros? Cons? School system information?

I know, I know...everything you want is in McKinney ...etc etc..but we like specific builders out there, and it is a short drive to McKinney, so please don't say, just live in McKinney. They are also building a retail town center.

If someone who actually lives there could respond....?

We had good friends who lived there in "Country Estates" and really liked it. Their kids went to McKinney, of course, and I think they were happy. They just got used to the driving and in fact, now live WAAAAAYYY further out. But their kids went all the way through school there.

Can anyone else contribute to this? I am also interested in this area. Is it a pain driving into McKinney for groceries, etc?

I'm confused as to why someone would take their children to McKinney schools, as Melissa is supposed to have excellent schools? Maybe they don't have all grade levels?

It seems HARD to find info about "smaller" towns on this forum.....I looked at Melissa also, along with Prosper, and posting to get people to give thoughts, is tough!!

Good luck, i will be watching this thread, hopefully you have better luck!

Thanks CravenClan! What I've found out so far is that Melissa is in a good school district, is low in crime (I think - I'd like more verification on this), has lots of new homes going in, and a lot of people in that area are really excited about a new shopping center that will be going into Allen, TX at Stacy Rd. and 75 complete with a Whole Foods! Should be about a 15 minute drive is all along 75 (mid-day that is! haha) You definitely get a whole lot more home for your money in Melissa it seems, and I love that it's just a 10 minute drive to McKinney!

The reason our friends went to McKinney schools (maybe just HS??) was likely due to the fact that Melissa didn't have their own schools then. That's what I assumed. They were in high school in the 80's, so.....
