Even though I have to go out and get my own electricity?

Is this normal? I already paid the deposit plus an extra one because of my credit which is understandable. But I never heard of an electricity deposit directly to the apartment especially when they don't provide it

The Eff is that?

It's been a while since I've rented in an apartment complex, but I've never heard of that at all. Is this the same one with the semi-suspect additional deposit?

I've lived in a lot of apartments before buying my house and I've never heard of that.

I did have to pay a water deposit for an apartment in Las Colinas but that was because they also charged us for water. Meaning we paid them and not the city. The deposit was only like $25 or something.

Did they explain why they wanted a deposit even though you are responsible for getting your own service?

Sounds like they are providing electricity billing or water billing for you.
I'd double check that.

Seems weird. If legal, make sure they will fully refund as "deposit" implies refundable as written in contract. I've seen many apartment complexes label various fees as "non-refundable deposit."

Yeah, what is that? A non-refunable money is fee, not deposit.
