Hello,
I will be moving to work in the South Dallas area the end of this summer. What areas/places are recommended for renting/leasing that is 25 -30 minutes or less for commute and have decent day care and school systems?

Thanks in advance for you wisdom.

You need to be more specific.

Do you mean "South Dallas" in the accurate sense of the area south/southeast of downtown and north of the Trinity River, or do you mean it in the colloquial sense of southern Dallas County (everything generally south of downtown Dallas, down to Red Oak or wherever the current common usage puts it? Where exactly are you talking about?

Exactly! Actual South Dallas is a specific set of neighborhoods right around Fair Park. Southern Dallas region could mean anything south of downtown, including southern suburbs.

Can you give us a zip code for your work as well as a desired rental budget?

South Dallas or south of Dallas? Either way you should be able to find reasonably priced apartments and daycares. If you post more details and requirements (without adding any personal info), posters from your target area can help with specific needs.

Cedar Hill, Duncanville, Red Oak, DeSoto, Seagoville, would all be worth researching. Heck, it looks to me like you could live in Waxahachie or Midlothian. That side of town is not prone to excessive rush hour delays, though you do have to keep your eyes open for things like the guy stopping in the left hand lane to pick up his buddy on the way to work (I have seen this personally), or the typical driving pattern of 35 mph or 85 mph on the freeway with little in between.

Thank you very much turf3. I will look into those areas. Do you know if they have good day cares/school systems? I have a toddler.

Look for rentals on zillow; I highly recommend burbs Midlothian or eastside of Mansfield. Both the closest to your work location with acceptable schools.

There’s also a nice section of Dallas — North Oak Cliff — that has a good Dallas ISD elementary school and would be a great location for your job.

I'd look into Heartland, it has a Forney zip code and Crandall schools
