I doubt it. Not only is the Dallas economy pretty resilient, but housing in HP has one of the highest increases in value in the whole nation.

Wow, I can't wait to have the Bushes only a short distance away...why not Crawford? I guess he doesn't have to have the phony simple man image anymore.

Yes but I wonder if demand for HP properties comes in no small part from East Coasters, West Coasters, and technological entrepreneurs?? He’s not too popular with these folks. This isn't the old days when it was mostly old Texas oil money. If HP gets labeled as a town for right wing old farts I can't see that as being good.

I don't think it would hurt property values, but it would put a stress on the traffic whenever he wanted to go somewhere. It's my understanding that Presidents still have secret service when they leave the White House. My guess is he will probably go back to the Preston Hollow area where he can get more of a decent lot size.

As hard as it is for some to imagine, while W may not be the most liked President we have, HP is not going to go ghetto because he moved in. Please. let's get serious folks. HP is not being bought out by the Code Pink and the Moveon.org crowd. It's not going to make a difference.

Yes, of course that goes without saying. I'm just saying this could hurt more than harm HP's image, and as far as that is correct, it's not a good thing for demand.

I hear what you are saying, I just don't think demand would be hurt so much by one's opinion that it is a town for "right wing old farts" as much as it would by someone not wanting to deal with potential traffic or other concerns an ex-President perhaps could bring to the area. I highly doubt that those who think in those terms ("right wing old farts")would consider living in HP in the first place.

Just as an example, Dallas markets itself to International and domestic corporations trying to get them locate operations here. Dallas's weak point has always been with recreational, and cultural activities, quality of life issues. I can see many CEO's not wanting to live in W's neighborhood.
