Default Looking at buying in Royse City

I am considering purchasing an investment property to rent out in Royse City. What are locals thoughts on this area? Would you live there?

Also - I am concerned about how far it seems to be to the DFW metro plex. Is Rosye city too far to commute into east Dallas? How is the commute on the I-20? Will the Tollway extension to the I-20 open make Royse City more drivable for workers in major job centers in the metroplex?

Thanks in advance for your help!

My sister lives in Royse City, so I'm familiar with the area.
People there use I-30 to commute into Dallas, and it's not horrible from Royse City to downtown Dallas. I guess if someone worked in North Dallas they could go up the George Bush tollway, but that would be a long and somewhat expensive drive.
The only concern I'd have with a rental property there would be that the people who are willing to drive that far (with gas over $3 a gallon) aren't going to take the best care of your property. You may have to paint and replace flooring fairly frequently. Other than that, it is a growing area with lots of families, and it will grow more once there is a Wal-Mart or a grocery store!

Royse City is still growing therefore there is still a lot of construction going up there. I think that if you buy there as an investment, it would have to be a heck of a deal. Most people that would look to rent there, would proably afford to buy too.

Royse City is a nice town and like ChristieP said, it's really not a bad commute to Dallas.

A few doctors/dentists from the neighboring cities like Garland and Rowlett have moved their practice to Royse City to build up a client base before others move in.

You may want to consider a city that is not experiencing as much growth and has more employers or public transportation to have a a higher ROI and turnover.

I think you should check out Choice Homes. They have some great homes at great prices.
