We received our shots in Allen, TX today 1B group, it was fast only 10 minutes plus 15 min wait for any reaction to the vaccine. Allen is one of the best with Plano among the worst in the county.

We got ours in McKinney yesterday. I got an email out of the blue last Thursday allowing me to immediately schedule appointments for myself and my wife. The earliest appointments available when I signed in were that Sunday.

Apparently Collin County is apportioning doses to its various outlets and the outlets themselves--rather than the county--are creating their own methods of contacting people who are on the county list.

Right after I signed up online to get the vaccine in McKinney, I immediately got an automatic email from Collin County that I'd been removed from the Plano waiting list, so McKinney is prompt with their information sharing in both directions.

I think the fiat's segmentation of groups 1A and 1B are misguided. I heard yesterday that the biggest spreaders are 20-49 year olds. Give the young and middle-aged the vaccine and nip the spread in the bud! You won't risk a mutation to a more communicable or deadly form of the virus.

But then the people running the state government are conservatives--not exactly known for out-of-the-box thinking! But this governor was pressured to return to normal by extremists--because the economy mattered more than lives. People, mostly young and middle-aged, going to school/workplace and taking transit daily to those places are opportunities to spread the virus.

Anyway, the current group segmentation should be discarded and instead vaccinate the likely spreaders to reflect the recent findings of that study.
Exactly. Wasting it on people in nursing homes who are dying next month anyway doesn’t make much sense at all.

I have no problem with moving to working people rather than people in their 70s. If anyone is likely to be vulnerable to reactions to the vaccine, it will be the oldest of people. It would be better for ultimate widespread acceptance of the vaccine to give it to people less likely to die from what would be mild symptoms in younger people.

Yes the death rate of nursing home people seems to be about 20 to 30 percent after the first shot, and 100 percent of the survivors test positive after the first shot.

Default Pressuring Local I.S.D.’s to Impose Mask Mandate

It’s my view that parents with children in public schools should organize to pressure their I.S.D.’s to impose mask mandates in defiance of Gov. Abbott’s recent executive order. I’m working to do this at various levels in DISD, but I’m curious to learn about similar efforts elsewhere in DFW.

Your kids can wear masks, nothing stops them from doing so.

No don't dictate away others freedoms if they prefer not to. People by now know the risks.

Why don't you go for a vaccine mandate also and force others to get a shot.

That’s the very opposite of freedom. People have a right to choose what they want to do.

The masks don't make a difference except in very rare circumstances.
