Any luck eradicating trumpet vine?
Hi All, We have some trumpet vines in our yard and they do not flower, I hear if they do, they are colorful. I have been removing them by hand and they keep coming back, and very fast too. Does anyone know, or been successful eradicating them ? I googled without much luck. Appreciate your suggestions, Thanks.

They are tough to get rid of. They run underground so they will continue to pop up all through the garden. They will bloom when the vine gets bigger/stronger and they do look lovely over a fence BUT it really can take over--quickly. When we had them at our former house we cut them down and just continued to pull them up every time we saw a new sprig.

Hi scyogi, the ones we have grew over 10 feet tall with no flowers, I read somewhere that some take as many as 10 years to bloom, that's when I decided to get rid of them. Now I seem to be caught in an unending exercise like a hamster on a wheel .

Roundup makes poison for woody-type vines and plants that we've used to get rid of Boston Ivy, poison ivy and Virginia Creeper. It's not the regular Roundup and it might work on trumpet vine, too. I think it's systemic and spraying it on the leaves will kill the roots. It got rid of our Boston Ivy, which I thought we'd never get rid of, and it only took a couple of applications. Good luck!

If you use Roundp paint in on the vine leaves with a small paint brush. This way you want kill surrounding plants.
