Hi Everyone,

I am in the final stages of interviewing with a company in Denton. However, my family’s current home is in Frisco near the intersection of 121 and Coit. Google is telling me the 31 mile commute would be 40 minutes. Is this true? If I take the job and it is too much of a haul, my husband and I discussed potentially relocating to NW Frisco (intersection of DNT and 380 area). However, although that area looks to be about 17 miles away from the office, it still shows the commute time of 40 minutes! We are trying to stay close to Frisco since my husband works in Frisco and we also prefer Frisco ISD. Any advice/thoughts would be appreciated!

Thank you!

Ugh, that’s tough. It’s probably 40 minutes right now while so many people are still WFH. I used to have drive from Legacy & 121 to Denton a few times a month and it would take about 45-75 minutes depending on the traffic and construction projects.

380 is horrible so I’m not surprised it’s not much time off the commute vs your current location.

My husband commutes to the 35 split and we live at Teel/Eldorado in NW Frisco. During non-COVID times it takes him around 45 minutes if he takes some back roads and then jumps on 380 around 720. He's taken the Lake Lewisville Toll Bridge too but it doesn't save him that much time.

Thank you! That doesn’t sound too bad. I was getting worried that I might be interviewing for a job that was just too far for us. I can add that to a potential area if the traffic/commute does get bad from our current location.

My husband goes to Denton everyday. We live in Stonebrook/423-teel. He drives through little elm. No toll and it takes him about 25 mins each way.

@Pinkett, that’s a great commute! Is that while the majority of people are working from home or is that 25 minute commute what it was prior to Covid-19 shut downs? Thanks!

We live in edocado/teel and I commute to downtown Denton every day, in pre covid 19, it took me about 35 minutes if I started at 7:45 am.

121 and Coit is way farther than 423 or 380 going towards Denton. There are some beautiful communities on 380 in Prosper.

To answer your question about pre COVID vs these days commute, I don’t think the drive for my husband has ever been more than 30 mins. As a physician, he sometimes have to go multiple times to his work. He has never complained about the commute.

What route does he take and where is he going? What time does he leave? We live at Teel/Eldorado and my husband has never had a commute that quick ever. I'm wondering if he commutes further.

423 to West Eldorado to short i35 drive to Denton with toll about 27 mins drive. Or 380 to Mayhill to Denton no toll about 35 mins drive.
