sometimes districts allow people to request a transfer from their residency ISD to another one--they do this most often for their teachers who live in other districts but want their children to be on same schedule as they are---those people are not usually charged for that and the state sends THEIR portion of the school costs to the second ISD for the transferred students--I am not sure if the 2nd district can recoup the tax share of the residency ISD as well....that is why anyone else who wants to transfer INTO a district w/o living in it is usually charged a fee for placement...
Birdville ISD announced that it is considering allowing transfers into its district for this next year--something it does not usually let people do...but its enrollment numbers fell last year and it is trying to bolster its funding...
some districts do allow transfers/some don't --it depends on many factors and varies too much to say yes or no--but you can inquire with the Denton ISD as to what its policies are...
regardng Autism--the state requires all public ISDs to provide teaching facilities and programs for students wilth learning disabilities--physical/intellectual/psychological...
there are programs for children with Autism--the quality of the programs often depends on the district's funding and professional staff---and the specific child's condition...some with milder forms can be inclusive quite a bit--some don't do well in that environment and are self-contained...
smaller districts (and private schools) with less funding/professional facilities and staff and fewer students who need special programs will often pay OTHER districts to take over that challenge and those students are bussed at the district's expense to the other district...
I don't know about Ponder--there are only 1 of each--elem, jr hi, high school--at the high school there is one teacher for special education--but no info about what that entails---
one the jr high--the same situation--one special edcation teacher--her web page shows that she teaches Resource Math, English, and Reading and does the ESL class as well
so for Social Studies and Science students must be inclusive...same in the elementary school--reading and math...
does not sound like they have as many specialized classes/designations as there are in my local district which is much larger
it might be that Ponder does outsource for some students with special needs--
you have to ask...
Denton is much larger district but there are other districts around Ponder--Argyle is one and it is a growing district--
