Same. People who have long drives in DFW rarely become long-term employees.

I do not understand how anyone would accept a job offer requiring a 40-50 mile commute without test driving it first

While you and I might find this kind of commute unbearable, believe me, there is a not-insignificant segment of the housing market that is willing to do it. There's a lot of folks who somehow believe that living in an exurban setting is inherently "better" and are willing to sacrifice commute time and family time to have that home "away from the big city and all its negatives."

I could have quit the day 1 or 2, but I feel bad for my boss and the company, they did treat me well, I am going to hurt them.
In the future, it is going to be 2 or 3 days a week commute. But I don't think I can take it.
Btw, I don't have money problem. And before this job, I wasn't working either. So after quit, I just go back to enjoy life.
How do you support yourself?

Totally get that - in my corporate job on Legacy, over the years I encountered three people who commuted DAILY from Glen Rose, Sherman, and Howe (almost to Sherman).

I just cannot comprehend taking a job offer without a full understanding of the drive time. Obviously since the OP is considering quitting after his first week, he did not fully investigate the job requirements before accepting the offer.

Yup. She has a huge pickup truck and has been doing that drive for like 20 years. IIRC, her husband ranches and she has the corporate career. I know the office is WFH for now but she was in the office working an (at least) 8-5 up until the pandemic.

Back when I worked at Cushman Wakefield a guy (Exec) traveled from Sherman to N.Dallas Tollway/Arapaho 5 days a week. Insane. IMO he wanted as much time to be away from the wife.

I remember meeting a guy who lived in Fort Worth and worked in Waco. Made the commute every day. Said he loved his job but couldnt stand living in Waco so he made it work.
