My employer's transferring me to the DFW area next month. I'll be working in either Irving or Grand Prairie, but won't know until next week (at the earliest). Wife and I have secured a realtor to help us find a nice rental in Arlington, Irving, Euless, Hurst, Grand Prairie, Bedford, or even east Fort Worth. So far no luck since the homes we like have been snatched up before we're able to submit applications.

We've decided to eliminate FW from our options because of traffic and safety concerns. Also I've been warned by different people to avoid the Grand Prairie area. Earlier today, my realtor even said she's not fond of most parts of Irving. Basically we're back at square one.

If you worked in Irving, what areas would you consider living in that are safe and peaceful with a reasonable commute? Same question for Grand Prairie. We've signed a contract with the agent but I'm thinking about firing her and going at the rental process alone. I like the 75209 zip code but don't know if the area will fit our needs.

Any suggestions?

Really depends in what your budget and how big of a rental you are looking at. Irving has its good and bad areas. Las Colinas area of Irving is really nice and you would be able to find some nice rentals. Las Colinas is part of Irving but its really its own city. Its safe and is really upscale. Very diverse and close to everything.

I would look into Las Colinas if I were you.

Thank you for responding. Las Colinas has been highly recommended a couple times. Let me see what we can find in that area.
