What are the negatives to living in University Park area?
My husband and I have looked around quite a bit and have decided to live in University Park. From my research it looks as though the schools are good, it's safe, there are trees and it is close to the aiport.
There are alot of pro's, what are the con's???
I appreciate any guidance!

It is close to Love Field airport, not to DFW International. So unless you fly Southwest everywhere, you'll still have a drive to the airport.
HP/UP is not diverse at all. It is like 99% white people there.
And the standard of living is EXTREMELY affluent, so your kid may be wanting a BMW for his/her first car just like their friends.

Lack of diversity is the only issue with University Park. Important to some folk and not to others. Other than that it has it all. I do not have one bad thing to say about the place (other than diversity).

I think maybe you ought to search for some threads here on this -- but all I will say for now is that a home is only the price of admission for the Park Cities. The lifestyle and peer pressure is much more expensive.

That's me. I'll let you know after we move in. I would agree with the above posters as things I perceive could be negatives. However, property taxes (while high due to the value of the homes) are low relative to the tax rate, from what I understand. Yes, there is congestion on the streets. As for peer pressure etc. ...I think it's all about who you choose to hang out with and how YOU decide to live your life.
I'll keep you all posted....
