Yes, after CA weather, it would be really tough getting used to this brutal summer climate. It is terrible.

Head colds are not caused by the cold and/or wet weather; they are caused by viruses,

If you dont like S.F. weather, try S. Cal. Its great or go inland a few miles from S.F.

My wife and I adjusted ok to the heat, but I understand people who don't. It does take some getting used to and for those considering coming here form California you should definitely visit in the summer to know what you are getting in to. But like I said people do adjust and get by just fine here during the summer.

Colds in general are not caused by the cold. That's an old wives tale.

Today in Dallas, I walked from my paid-off home (on a wooded lot of almost an acre) in Lake Highlands to a nice, big grocery store to shop for food and totally enjoyed the warm, sunny weather and the nice breeze! Do that in the bay area with a middle-class salary.
|
And I was down close to your part of town this afternoon and evening (actaully in Lakewooders hood) but did go thru Lake Highlands - TONS of people outside all day today everywhere we went. Had dinner at Matt's OUTSIDE on the patio. EVERYONE was outside today. Such terrible weather We then enjoyed driving around the lake and now my kids want to move to Lakewood. LOL!!! If I HAD to move that is about the only other place I'd live in all of the Dallas area.
Yes, we all know how much Johnmarq HATES Texas and Dallas after spending a few weeks here once. He pops in every few months to remind us

Yes, that's what I said although I left out the part about the old wives' tale or common myth is what I usually call it.

Well, I'm assuming you have the relief of A/C because I truly believe that if one does not, there is no adjusting very well. When I'm dying of the heat from working outside and if I didn't know I'd have the A/C to "run" to, I would never make it. It's just that simple. Sitting outside this evening in the shade and doing nothing was very pleasant, very warm, but very pleasant. I think the never-ending wind is helping with the pleasant evenings because when it's still, it's not so pleasant.

Hey, did you have the A/C on in the car or did you brave the heat? I actually really do try to not run the A/C when driving around, but it's not always so easy to do.

I had the natural a/c on in the car w/ the sunroof open. If I had not been going to the Galleria earlier I would have taken the convertible out. I've got that on the agenda for tomorrow though . REAL a/c.......... windows & top down When I get home from church and lunch and the few errands we have to do right after I plan on doing exactly what I did last Sunday afternoon............ sit outside by the pool. Oh, and the spot we were sitting at out on the patio at Matt's did NOT have ANY breeze going thru and we were just fine. Although the iced tea and a margarita helped (calm the heat going on in my mouth from the WONDERFUL hot sauce).
