As we often say, you need to find a job before you decide where to move. As someone already said, DFW is the size of the State of Connecticut.

There are good hospitals all over DFW. The largest networks are: Baylor Scott & White, Medical City Healthcare, Methodist, and Texas Health. Of course there are other hospitals that are independent, or part of smaller networks.

$400k is not much in the northern burbs anymore. Especially along the tollroad coordior where major northern hospitals are. I would focus on mid-cities or FW side of the metroplex. I don’t know what all the hospital names are but there are plenty of them.

First, don’t say “Howdy”….. people don’t really talk like that here.

$400K in a nice burb near hospitals and move in ready usually means newer homes.

Here’s my suggestions:

Mansfield
Arlington in 76001 zip code
Euless in 76039 zip code

There are lots of other nice burbs near big medical complexes with homes in your range, but the houses are probably 20+ years old so hit or miss as far as move in ready. Northern burbs not included here due to budget.

Arlington 76017 & 76016
Hurst
Euless - all zips
Bedford
North Richland Hills
Lewisville
Valley Ranch - 75063

Isn't "howdy" the official Texas A&M Aggie greeting? There are plenty of Aggies in DFW. It's also what Big Tex says. Judge Mills Lane says it's allowed.

What we're trying to tell you is that almost any hospital in the Dallas area will have a nice area within reasonable commuting distance. I took a quick look at Google Maps for "hospital Dallas" and quickly counted about 20 different locations, and this won't include sub-locations, clinics associated with hospitals, etc. So you need to get a job lined up and then people can advise on where would be reasonable places to live nearby.

But you can't say "oh, I want to live in Plano" and then find out you get a job at the VA in South Oak Cliff.

You should be able to find something easily in McKinney. McKinney is probably as cheap as it gets for a safe suburb with hospitals. We have two big ones and a little one. Inventory is booming, and prices are plummeting.

But I know nothing about north Dallas which is why I’m hoping you fine people will give me an education on what neighborhoods are safe without losing the suburban feeling. thank You all !
Lake Highlands. Close to Presbyterian (5-10 minutes) and Medical City (6-15 minutes). and not really that far from Baylor (15-20 minutes).

P.S.: I now see your budget, and that won't suffice for full-sized single-family homes, but you should be able to get something small like this on Old Moss Road for $400,000:

I agree that the Southside area of Fort Worth is a great choice for you. That being said, I've lived all over DFW. There are multiple hospital districts and individual hospitals that are spread far from each other. Rent and find a job before you buy. That way you have more career options. The largest is just east of downtown Dallas and the next largest is just south of downtown Fort Worth. Those aren't the only districts though. There are many other districts scattered throughout DFW, all in areas with vastly different housing price points. Your budget won't get you anything close to the main district in Dallas or close to the hospitals in Plano.

And if you've done any research at all you'd know that Dallas area is blessed to have 3 major top notch hospital systems along with UTSW.
There are some here and there. For example, west of HPHS, in southwest Highland Park, off Boedeker north of Park, southwest of the Mockingbird/McMillan intersection, on the north end of Kingsbury, and on the southern end of Walling.

They're out of the OP's price range but definitely in good neighborhoods.
