Default Considering RELOCATING...COUNTRY LIVING around DFW??

Ok, we are up for a change and sick of Arizona and the inflated housing, border issues, crime etc. I have family that lives outside of DFW in DENTON and would like to be semi close to them ( maybe 20 minutes or so ) and would go to denton for weekly shopping etc. BUT we are looking for COUNTRY LIVING. We need room to roam and to be far enough away from THE TRAFFIC OF DFW . I would like to live *close* to a small town of maybe a few thousand people and somewhere where there is lots of rural living!! denton is just exploding and too close to the DFW TRAFFIC FOR ME I like the thought of being close enough to DFW for some activities but would like to be part of a nice small SAFE community to do day to day activities in! We would only go into DALLAS OCCASIONALLY and would not be commuting daily

Also can anyone give me ideas of average temps throughout the year there.. and do you see 4 seasons??

I AM SICK OF DIRT AND CACTUS Oh and we have just 2 seasons in Tucson HOT AND HOTTER THAN HELL!!

Some areas that popped out to us on the map where AUBREY, PILOTS POINT, DECATUR,PONDER

I hope to homeschool , so schools are not a big issue, however for resale value of the home we would like to find a great smaller school district. We just want to be in the country. FAR away from the hustle and bustle but probably within 20 minutes of Denton where my dad and family are! Decatur seems to keep sticking out in my mind because of the location ( only by looking at a map though) I like that is is further from Dallas and that we wouldnt have bad traffic getting to DENTON , but any other areas would be appreciated. We want a really nice LITTLE town with maybe a grocery store and a few restaraunts and then we would like to travel to DENTON for the rest

Any idea what we could expect to pay for a 4 bed home with say a few acres of land in some smaller rural communities?

Does anyone actually LIKE LIVING THERE? It seems everything I read people hate it there, I would trade anyone there in a second to get out of the arm pit of America here in Tucson!

Aubrey may fit your requirements, although there is a fair amount of development going on along 380 near Aubrey. We do have all four seasons; Almost Summer, Summer, Still Summer and Christmas Vacation. The temps won't be as high, but the humidity may be more than you're use to. There is more to the Metroplex than dirt and cactus, there are plenty of lakes (most are low now and will probably stay low for the forseeable future) and greenery to enjoy.

Decatur. That is where I would go. There are some rolling hills and it is a nice sized little town. It has grown as I remember when there was only a (I said "a" ) flashing red light in town and the old Piggly Wiggly. It is still small town living though. There are plenty of areas around of developments w/ acreage or you can find a home in one of the small newer subdivisions. Boyd is close by and it is much smaller. You can actually get to downtown Ft Worth quicker than you can to Dallas from Decatur. My family is from there and I've always wanted to move there. I LOVE it and the area is pretty. The schools are pretty good and they have a nice sized little hospital. The square is beautiful and they have what has been deemed one of the best looking courthouses in the state. There are 2 grocery stores and a SuperWalmart and a Home Depot or Lowe's (I can not remember which one, sorry ). Lots of cute little shops and some small restaurants and a few of the bigger chains but not too many, just enough. I used to laugh and joke that the only thing growing in Decatur was the cemetery, that is not the truth anymore but it has been nice controlled growth.
