Default Aubrey/Little Elm/Celina/Pilot Point

We are considering a move to the area north of Dallas, and are wondering what towns to look into or avoid.I am self employed in the construction business and should be able to work in the Frisco/Plano/McKinney areas, and my wife is a nurse and hopefully will be able to find a job on the outskirts of the metroplex,so neither of us will need to commute into the main part of Dallas. My kids will be going to college in Denton,so we need to stay within a 30 minute commute to downtown Denton. My wife and kids like Little Elm,Celina,Frisco, and Prosper, while I liked Aubrey and Pilot Point also as well as the others.Any suggestions,or good/bad comments?

If you can afford Prosper and DON'T need to commute south, I honestly believe it is the best bet long term. But it may be 10 years before the infrastructure catches up with you there. However, there are alot of execs moving up there from West Plano, Stonebriar and Starwood, so the area is already taking on an upscale country feel.

Next in line I'd say Frisco. Stay West of Preston.

If you like Little Elm, make sure you buy in the parts of Little Elm that use Frisco Schools. Highland Has a community there that is really nice:

I'm not familiar with any of the other places you mentioned.

Default Aubrey would be my choice

We moved to Aubrey in November and we love it here! We moved from Plano, just outside of Frisco. We couldn't wait to move out of that hustle and bustle traffic mess.Aubrey would also probably be good for you since it is no more than 30 minutes from TWU AND UNT. Little Elm is nice, but the traffic bottlenecks there and can take forever to get where you want to go. We also looked seriously at Prosper, but it was out of our price range as first time homebuyers and people just don't seem as friendly. We also like Celina.

The price of home you're looking for will be a big factor. What's your price range?

I am enjoying being in Pilot Point. It all depends on how much metroplex you want and how soon you want it. All of this area will be engulfed by growth in the future. The further north, the longer the delay is my bet. I like horse farms for as long as we can keep them!

Aubrey strikes me as very picturesque due to the extensive forest cover there. It seems like a village set in a forest.
