Duncanville
I am thinking about moving to Duncanville, TX in about a year. I was wondering what are some neighborhoods within this area that is worthwhile.

Okay...
Most of Duncanville is a part of the Duncanville Independent School District.
Small sections are in the Dallas Independent School District.

Duncanville
Do you know if the schools are poor? Are the schools like institution of learning or prison? I was told to stay away from Pleasant Grove and Lancaster but I was wondering since I believe they are in the same area are these areas similar?

Well, I don't know a whole lot about the schools in Duncanville ISD, since I do not live in the area, and I did not read about the schools in the area.
Here is a Greatschools profile of Duncanville HS: http://www.greatschools.net/modperl/...school/tx/2159
And for Duncanville ISD as a whole: http://www.greatschools.net/cgi-bin/...ct_profile/339
I will figure out where the Dallas ISD portion of Duncanville is zoned
EDIT: As for the Dallas ISD part: 999 Cambridge Drive, Duncanville, TX 75137 leads to:
* Weiss Elementary School
* D.A. Hulcy Middle School
* David W. Carter High School
I believe the Duncanville ISD schools that serve Duncanville are better than the Dallas ISD schools.

If you look under my profile, you can find all my post on Duncanville. I use to live there and the city and schools have gone down hill. I have written quite extensively and I believe that all my post are in there.
Just a note that I have not ever said, if you choose to live in one of the better neighborhoods, you still have a great risk at being robbed. My inlaws live in a nice middle class neighborhood. By far it isn't mansion row where they live but they are nice older homes filled with older couples who have raised their kid. The kids who live in the lower income housing and from the hood ( it really had turned into that ) go over to my inlaws neighborhood and rob them which is extremely easy due to ally garages.
It is just a shame because that was such a thriving community once upon a time.

Yeah, Duncanville (along with DeSoto and Lancaster) are getting pretty bad. You should try Cedar Hill on west.

You really should reconsider moving to Duncanville or Texas in general. The crime rate is terrible and chances of you having a crime committed against you are pretty good. Granted the police department is good but they only have so many police officers. Check out the number of sex offenders in the area. You'll change your mind.

seaunmaine... seriously.. your comment "Texas in general" is a little over the top. There may be parts of Texas that are less desirable than others but in general this is a great state to live in.
You find crime all over the place in every city, new or old, low economic or upper, and sadly sex offenders tend to be more prominent in nice areas according to some statistics.
I personally don't know much about Duncanville, but I can name 20 other suburbs I am familiar with and they are just as safe as any other area in or out of Texas.
