Things to do in Tyler (where to live, restaurants, mall)

Hi,
I'm a 24 y/o single male moving to Tyler from Phoenix. I'm looking to live close to restaraunts, pubs, etc... I guess I'm wondering if there's a downtown/oldtown area or a bar/club strip. What goes on in Tyler for young people, seems like a small town, will I be bored out there?, seems like a family town, is there many young people there? Any advice on where to live/things to do would be helpful. Thanks.

If you have to move to Tyler, live near the mall in south Tyler. There are some good restaurants for dinner. There is no La Madeline, Corner Bakery or some equivalent. There are 2 Starbucks I think.
