Mansfield orMesquite
Hello all :
In my continuous quest to find the right place to relocate to; I have come upon 2 other places of interest
Mansfield
Mesquite
I've heard some terrible things about the Balch Springs area of Mesquite. But I've also seen, & talked to some great people that love living there as well. Mansfield sounds good too, but maybe a little to far for me. Closer to Ft. Worth
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Try out Mansfield. I have heard that Mesquite is declining a bit, and the wholse eastern side of the Metroplex is to too great. The population growth is shifting to the west and south, so you will see a lot of development if you land down here. Mansfield is about to get a mall and looks real new. You won't be disappointed with it. If you wanted to commute to Downtown Fort Worth, your commute would be about 30 minutes on Highway 287.

Thanks, I am thinking that I would probably get a job in d.t. Dallas. Also, my parents are in Ennis. How long to get there?

Well, if you are going to be in Downtown Dallas, try out southern Grand Prairie (around Joe Pool Lake) or Cedar Hill. You can find a house on the hill with a good view of Downtown Dallas in these areas, too.

By the way:
Most of Mansfield is in the Mansfield Independent School District. A small section in Johnson County is served by the Mildothian Independent School District.
As for Mesquite - Most of it is in the Mesquite Independent School District. A small portion is in the Dallas Independent School District.

Southside is growing. To be closer to Dallas than Ft. Worth. Consider Midlothian/Ovilla. Close to Dallas, shopping (new mall coming this fall), good schools. (Ovilla is a small enclave between Red oak and Cedar Hill, just north of Midlothian. It is small and depending on where in Ovilla you live, you will be in the Red Oak ISD, Midlothian, ISD or the DeSoto, ISD). Less traffic, yet less than 30 minutes into downtown Dallas. More country atmosphere, but with all the perks. PS: If considering Ovilla, be aware that some of the city is located in Dallas county and will be higher in real estate taxes.

Look at Red Oak
After reading more of your posts, I wonder if Red Oak would be a good location fro you. It's about half way between Dallas and Ennis. (My husband works in Ennis, so I know the town a bit.) There is public transportation to downtown Dallas nearby, housing is still affordable and a lot of new housing is coming to town. Red Oak Schools are good compared with some in the area. You mention your son is big on football - then Ennis is the place to be! They've been state champions more times than I can count. They have recently put a major push on education, too, which had been a concern for me when we moved to the area 5 years ago. Ennis is a farther commute however. More like 40 -45 minutes I think.
You can contact me if you have any other questions.
