Dear Orwalker,

Welcome - I am also a "foreigner" - if you count Canada as a foreign country

We settled across the road from Waterford in a subdivision called Star Creek.
During our house search in January of this year, we looked at Star Creek,Twin Creeks, Waterford Trails, Park, Crossing etc..

We also considered purchasing a home in the Waterford Trails, but wanted a neighborhood pool. My understanding is that there will NOT be a pool built in that neighborhood.

There is another option for swimming - although not in your neighborhood, there is a very large fitness center nearby that has both indoor & outdoor pool areas. Their website is Life Time Fitness - Feel good inside

Also, if you have school aged children, there has been some rezoning with the building of new elementary schools. You will want to check with the Allen ISD to see what schools your children would attend. Try their website at:

Allen Independent School District

Good luck in your search and move - please email me if you have any more questions.

Hi Orwalker -

Allen has the Natatorium that offers great indor and outdoor swimming pool for the kids. If you are looking for subdivisions with a pool, I would recommend Twin Creeks, Star Creek, Quail Run, and Suncreek. Each of these subdivisions have their own unique feel. For example, Twin Creeks is more mature and has been around for over 10 years now. There are some areas that are still being built out, but there are also older areas. Star Creek is relatively new and are still building quite a bit. Their pool is very nice, as well as the tennis courts and trails. However, Star Creek prices are a bit higher. Quail Run has a nice central park and pool in the middle of the subdivision. Quail Run is still building as well, but it is not as big as Star Creek. Depending on your price point, you will find many options in Allen. It's a great town that is not too small where you have to drive miles to get to a store, but not too large where you feel overwhelmed. Make sure you work with a Realtor to get the appropriate CMAs so you don't overpay.

Default Outdoor Swimming Pools in Allen (Neighborhood)

[quote=janusREgroup;4399176]Hi Orwalker -

FYI......I am pretty certain that the natatorium near the Allen High School does NOT have an outdoor swimming pool. There are some outdoor swimming pools in Allen (community pools), but not at the natatorium. See link.

City of Allen :: Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium (http://www.cityofallen.org/departments/parks_recreation/recreation/don_rodenbaugh.htm - broken link)

I was thinking the original poster wanted a neighborhood pool, which I intrepreted as meaning an "outdoor pool". Not sure as he/she has not made any other postings to this thread.
