I haven't heard a thing about portrait. I've recently seen signs that Ryland qualifies as a green builder though. Of course this could vary from one of their projects to another.

Portrait is not one of the "certified green builder" in Dallas. They do use energy efficient appliances, roofing material etc... They are Energy Star qualified.

Yes Ryland is a certified one along with David Weekley, Wall Homes, Drees, Pioneer, Plantation, Cary Clarke, the McGuyer Line and several more.

Default Green Roofing

Have you considered using a Decra Roof? It is a stone coated steel roof that comes in a variety of shapes (e.g. Shake, Tile, Barrel Tile, Shingle, etc).
