Default West Plano

...still searching for the best place taking all factors into consideration. This forum has been incredible for information, but I am even more confused now : )
At the moment I'm looking in the Plano area, having gone through, however not ruling out Lakewood, Lake Highlands, Oak Cliff....etc I'm in the West Plano area now. Is Lewisville ISD part of the west Plano district? Or is it part of the Plano ISD. Still trying to get a sense of where west Plano is in relation to the map when searching MLS.
(Next will be Frisco, colleyville ?.....)

Thank you for any information.

Plano to Duncanville? Ay yay yay, that's a hellacious commute. Your husband had better LOVE his kids, because he will be cursing that drive for hours every day.

But, to answer your question, most (but not all) of Plano is located in the Plano ISD. The south and west boundaries of the Plano ISD are the Collin County borders. The small portion of the City of Plano west of the Collin County line is in the Lewisville ISD. There are also small parts of Plano way up north that are located in the Frisco ISD.

On the flip side, the portion of the City of Dallas located in Collin County is in the Plano ISD. You might want to consider buying there, as it would save at least a few minutes of the commute.

The exact boundaries of the Plano West attendance area can be found online at the PISD's Web site - Plano Independent School District – Plano, Texas

Thanks Big G...Ok, the commute could pose a problem. My husband does really love his kids, but if he's going to come home everyday pissed off, the kids will hate him! Thanks for the link.

Elizabeth,
A Mapsco of Dallas might be a really great tool. Especially if you're trying to find your way around the Dallas area. The Dallas Mapsco book has all of Plano in it also and about half of Collin County. In the front of the book is a detailed map of the school districts. GL!

That's a great suggestion from Korel.

In fact, I need to get a new Mapsco - mine is from 1995 - streets change names (Malcolm X was Oakland), now we have Victory Park, etc...

The Mapsco is much, much better than the Rand McNally version...fyi.

good advice...

If you want a quick and dirty guide for where Plano ISD stops and Lewisville starts, here it is- east of Midway= plano. west of Midway=Lewisville. There are exceptions, and some neighborhoods have some schools going to one, some to another, so you would need to check each address specifically. but anything east of midway would be plano for sure- it's just the west of midway addresses you would need to check.

also a quick and dirty for finding west plano on the mls is zip code = 75093. again, some go to lewisville isd, as mentioned before, but the majority would be plano and if you are looking on realtor.com or a similar place, the isd would be listed.

btw, lewisville is not a bad isd. but I understand wanting to be in plano (that's where I am).
