Actually we are not too sure abt the educational system. If my son is 3 1/2 years old, should he be in pre-K? What level should he be in? He has been attending montessori base school since 18 months and can blend 3 letters word and simple addition.

Default Coppell Montessori Academy

We live in La Villita in Las Colinas since Feb 2006. Our son is 3 years and 3 months old. He has been going to Coppell Montessori Academy since he was 2 years old. It's located near Denton Tap and Sandy Lake in Coppell about 8 miles northwest of us. The director of the school is very professional, accommodating, ethical, fair and a good communicator. She's responsive to inquiries, concerns and needs. We just started potty training our son in July and I really wanted him to move up to the 3-5 years old class, so he could be more challenged. (I'm a pushy Asian mom.) We had 1 month to do it as school started in August. The director and teachers worked with us to help our son through the potty training and transition. Although he wasn't fully potty trained and is small for his age, the director was very accommodating by having a staffer monitor and help my son and another boy from 8 AM -3 PM so they could be potty trained and the regular teachers could focus on academics. My son is short, so she brought in a stool for him to be able to reach the commode. Every time I email her with questions or concerns, she either emails that day or very soon. She has had a couple of parent nights this year when she has educated parents on how they teach Math and Language to the kids. I was very impressed by the curriculum. My son knows how to count to 29, knows all the alphabet and sounds, is learning math and we're looking forward to him hopefully reading by probably 4-5 years. (I do spend a lot of time with him reading.) I really believe in the Montessori way and how this director manages her staff and school. The student population seems to be very diverse. I haven't heard any complaints from parents and I've met a few through birthday parties. Please consider Coppell Montessori Academy and email me if you need more help or details.
