Question Flower Mound Easy Access to Highways?

Hi everyone. I have really been interested in the Flower Mound area because of all of the good posts I have seen on this site. Schools seem to be up to par and the housing looks great from what I have seen on websites. I know that getting in and out of Flower Mound can be challenging. My question is 'which part of Flower Mound has the easiest access to highways?' Husband will be commuting to Love Field area everyday. Thanks!

Take a look at a map like google maps.

The main "arteries" through flower mound are FM 1171 (aka Cross Timers or Main St), FM 2499 (aka Long Prairie Rd) and FM 3040 (aka Flower Mound Rd).

FM 1171 & 3040 take you to Interstate 35, which is a straight shot to Dallas from the North (although a lot of traffic).

FM 2499 will take you down to Hwy 114, which is a straight shot to Dallas from the West (and might be less traffic).

Something close to one of these streets will be best, although it will take 10-15 mintues at least to get to a major Hwy/Interestate.

I highly recommend you stay south of Cross Timbers (FM 1179) but Bridlewood which is on Cross Timbers would be OK also. It;s a lot easier to get into FM using 2499 or Flower Mound RD (3040) from I-35.

Flower Mound is one of my favorite cities in DFW. Great schools, a lot of families / kids and it actually has hills & trees which many communities lack.

That's going to be an ugly commute no matter where you live. 114 and 121 north of DFW Airport are about to undergo a 5-year reconstruction. The part of 114 near Grapevine Mills Mall is already in progress.

It is indeed a nice place to live. Expect the commute to be at least 45 minutes. FM1171 aka cross timbers has a lot of lights. I guess depending on what part of town you are you can try different ways and see what works best for him. Long Prairie aka 2499 is the least congested that I have seen no matter what time of day I go through there.

I really like Flower Mound. Went to visit a friend in FM a few weeks ago, in the evening, hardly any traffic and thought it was a horrendous commute. We live not too far from Love Field so...

How about north Flower Mound which would require taking the 407 to I-35? Is that pretty bad too?

407 itself isn't bad but still has a lot of lights too. it's when you get to I35 that you would run into the major congestion. If you are in town, you should drive it in the morning and back in rush hour and you would understand.

My hairstylist is out there at Cloud 9 Salon - Shannon Burton - and she's one of the top 10 colorists in the nation. Who would've thought - Flower Mound? Maybe Paris, London, Rome... but Flower Mound. She's awesome and I highly recommend her when you get here!

Flower Mound to Dallas Love Field at rush hour is just going to be a long commute. You could look up one of the homes you're interested in and go to www.mapquest.com and map it to Love Field. It should tell you how long it'd be. I know it's hard to tell by just looking at a map - especially if you aren't familiar with the area.

Let me know how else I can help,
T. Hayley
