Sherwood Forest in Irving, TX 75061 (Dallas, Howe: houses, neighborhood, schools)

Can anyone provide info about this area? My husband and I are looking at houses in this area to purchase. He works in downtown Dallas and I work near the Galleria. Upon driving through, this seems like a cute neighborhood that is well cared for. We do not have kiddos to worry about schools right now. Also, I noticed the Irving mall was somewhat nearby, which is a turnoff for me. I am used to the Galleria and North Park (my two malls of choice for shopping). How it this area in terms of desirability, crime, statistics? Thanks! Jennifer

I love the tall trees in Sherwood Forest. Highly desirable area and rarely do homes come on the market there, there are 8 right now on the market ranging from 120-200K. I would suggest that you check with the local police department (972) 721-2518 or flag down a patrol car if you see one while you drive around. They will give you the true stats. If you see residents outside mowing lawn or so, stop and ask them too.

The mall is a bit of a disappointment. I really just see it busy during xmas time. However, it is convenient to have it anyway.

Well, I can say that my wife and I love the area. We are actually in the process of closing on a house in that neighborhood right now.
