How can people hold down a job if they're in a nightclub until 5AM?
Maybe they're there on vacation?

Job? When you are South Beach pretty you don't need a job.

I worked in restaurants - went in around 3 or 4pm and finished around midnight; sometimes 1am. Really didn't seem like a big deal back then. So yes...I HAD A JOB...no BP here...LOL!!!

I love La and Miami......as far as nightlife, shopping, hair salons....ect....(it keeps me entertained)...However, I also love the culture and more down to earth feeling of southern cities. I am hoping to find the best of both worlds - - If possible

Sounds like you don't know what you want. Flashy and down to earth are polar opposites. Generally if somebody is down to earth, they aren't all that flashy.

I can only guess that the OP is much younger than me because I find L.A. night life quite boring. Serioulsy, if you are not some celeb then you are not going to get into the hip, HOT spots around town. Even when I was younger and a serious clubber I was quite disgusted with the hip clubs and the rope. You had to stand around and the big mean looking bouncer picked who would get in based on looks and sexiness and the kind of car you got out of. The desperation on some of the faces behind the rope was priceless. L.A. is so fake UHG! I can only imagine how Miami is.
Give me a nice jazz concert in the park, my blanket, big hat, sun glasses, and cooler! Now that's really down to eart and flashy!

Atlanta was recommended, but that was a dissapointing for me and a little too 'urban/ghetto' for my personal taste.
thanks anyone

Dallas is certainly flashy. Especially the uptown area where BMW's,Mercedes' and Range Rovers are common nature. VIP lines, bottle service,lists...I am describing uptown. The other areas of Dallas are more casual. In uptown, it is not uncommon to see celebrities such Jessica Simpson,Tony Romo,Mike Medano,Tony Parker,Lance Armstrong....
Hotel ZaZa always has someone interesting staying there and nightclubs such as Suite and Candleroom are known for the "A list" and beautiful crowd. Downtown has a bunch of trendy bars as well. St Patty's day is a huge Dallas all day fest...
Dallas is definitely a social and trendy town. I have been to all the cities on your list and I would not say any of the others you mentioned are "flashy" in the late 20's, early 30's sense.
"Flashy" cities are : Dallas,San Francisco,NYC,LA,Miami...
Some examples of more down to earth yet still trendy(but not flashy) cities are Tampa, Austin,San Diego,Tulsa,Kansas City,...
Good luck in your move.

Are you kidding me? The Beautiful Room is awful and I cannot even believe someone posted them for an example of Dallas. Ick! I use to part of The "DRAMA" room and it was full of drama queens and addicts...they were either snorting something up their nose or sleeping with each others boyfriends and girlfriends.....extremely distasteful and a bad example of Dallas! Drunk Socialites...
As a Christian I couldn't wait to get out of that scene....didn't want that kind of reputation at all....stay away from them! Life is much better now and I didn't need them to begin with. However, I was new in the city and was looking for new friends...ummmm...but not those kind of friends...
I hope you are not basing your move solely on the party scene...
Dallas does have many jobs to offer though. Weigh your options....all of them...
Personally, I would go to the beach

Thanks 'KittyPaw'!!
that was most helpful!....that was the info I was looking for!...
and to a previous person who responded.....Yes, there is such thing as flashy and down to earth...and in response to another post when I lived in LA I never had a problem entering a club although you are correct in saying connection is the key.
Dallas sounds like the place so far!
thanks!
