"Police say a recent program to keep career criminals like him behind bars longer could be one factor behind a dramatic reduction this summer in the city's crime.
Overall crime in Dallas fell about 17 percent in June and July, compared with the same period last year. That's helped bring this year's numbers down about 7 percent.
"I think it's a combination of a lot of different dynamics working together well," said Deputy Chief Vince Golbeck, who commands the city's central patrol division..."

Just wait until they add those 400 new officers.
It also helps that DPD has a Police Chief who is respected by the rank and file!
