Look at the join dates of those who are posting some of this crap. We've got trolls who are just getting their kicks from stirring things up. Settle down, and don't feed them. There's a difference between a spirited debate and the kind of nonsense we're seeing here. Replying with some kind of inflammatory rant just encourages them.

You live in Garland-probably South Garland- that explains it all!

kimberland, could you please explain exactly what you mean by "deflect... the pride we have in our Utopia", and what laws/ordinances would be used to prosecute such deflection or degradation?

At the end of the day, does it really matter if people in West Plano think they are superior to the rest of us?
Really, does it?
We all end up somewhere because we are comfortable there. Whatever little slice of paradise we choose has some special meaning to us. Do any of you really care why I chose to live in Sunnyvale? Mary, do you really give a rat's arse why TyCobb chose Plano?
Even IF everyone in Frisco or Plano thinks they are superior, how does that matter to your quality of life if you choose to live in Lakewood, Mesquite, Lancaster or Lewisville? It doesn't. We all need to get the heck over ourselves. Remember, if you like where you live, isn't that really all that matters at the end of the day?

There are laws that prohibit panhandling. These laws are to protect panhandlers from possible injury- they do usually stand by busy intersections- and to protect motorists from annoying begging and the occasional desperate actions of drug addicts and boozers.
I believe that we all have a right to safety.
As far as Utopia of Southlake, I feel that the police force does an amazing job of protecting the citizens and enforcing laws. I have lived in an unsafe country and I feel that we should never take our safety for granted. I truly feel blessed to live in a safe and clean area.
If someone on this board thinks that it is not "degrading" to humanity for someone to be in such a state of addiction or laziness that they will resort to begging, I am willing to listen to your argument for the positives of having street people put everyone else at risk while attempting to reap the benefits of all the caring working people of the world willing to give them a dollar. As I like to say, Give me a break!

I am not a "troll". That is a very degrading term. Yes, I have recently joined because I just found out about this wonderful and informative website. I have received a lot of advice about my upcoming relocation and I really appreciate it.

I didn't ask about laws regarding panhandling. I asked about laws that will have people arrested for "deflecting or degrading your pride in your Utopia".

So, I should expect to be arrested by the Southlake Police any minute then?
