One Big Thing that Dallas Is Missing
A World Class University like Rice University in Houston.
NYC, Chicago, Philadelphia, SFO, Washington DC have them but not Dallas.
I'm jealous.

SMU is not considered a world class university by any standard. Definitely not on par with Rice or even UT for that matter.

Curious as to why that is?

I would not say SMU is world class but I would say the same about Rice. They are fine universities but to call them world class is a reach IMHO.

Mediocre student body and overall unimpressive faculty.

Granted ratings sytems are subjective, but Rice's level of entering students is on par with the top tier of schools in the country, and its faculty is well regarded.

I had always thought that SMU/Rice were pretty much the same, give or take.

I would give Rice the slight edge over SMU but I would not put them on the top 25 for top universities in the nation. I doubt anyone on the east or west coast no much about either of the two.
