Info on Bailey Texas
Hi,
Can anyone please provide some info on Bailey? I know it's a town 5 miles east of Leonard, and probably has a hundred or so people. Any info on the type of folks living there, businesses, schools and neighborhood would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Duke

Hi, Duke! Have you bought your place yet? I remember you were looking in the Leonard area.
Bailey....it has a nice little post office in a portable building. Right now the corner convenience store is open....it comes and goes...not sure if they are selling gas this time around but I think they have a grill. There is an old building where the sr citizens meet at noon and eat (a government program) and play dominoes. That's about it. No school there....it's been closed for probably 40 years (before my time at least)....the kids are in the Bonham school district but some also go to Leonard to school. There are not many kids there....it's mostly older people, mostly kinfolk of one sort or another, mostly low income. There are a few older houses that are rental properties. Quiet and safe little place to be most of the time....depending on who is renting at the time - trouble-makers don't last long. The law enforcement is provided by Fannin Co. Sheriff's Dep't which is housed in Bonham. The town is clean, most keep their yards mowed, and, to state this in a polite, PC way, there is 'no diversity' there.
Let me know if I can be of any help........

Hi GayleTX,
Thanks for the info. As a matter of fact, my wife and I did purchase a nice little 40 acre tract in Leonard. We closed escrow last month. Now my wife has decided to look at another farm in the Bailey area as an investment, hence my post on info regarding Bailey. We don't intend to live on the Bailey property if we do end up buying it, other than to keep it as a working farm. Thanks for all your help!
Duke
