I am looking for an apartment here in the next few weeks. I posted in the spring and got some good responses for when I was looking before I changed plans. Now I must move and currently am near The Village. I am looking in this area, Lakewood, Knox, Oaklawn, Uptown.

I have a cat, don't need much space and looking to stay below $500 ideally to keep on budget and save for grad school. I can live in a backhouse, garage apt, maybe rent a room from someone, etc. Washer and dryer nearby at least.

Thanks
C

Try craigslist.com. Or you might be able to rent an apt in an older fourplex. You can go to realtor.com, click on "rentals" and type in the zip codes 75206, 75214.

Most are not listed though, and you should just drive around looking for "for rent" signs, there are a lot of them.

Sometimes you will find an ad for such in The Dallas Morning News, you could also check the SMU Daily Campus, The Dallas Observer and try Campagna and Get There First - they handle properties of this type.

Driving around is also a good idea - even though a lot of Lakewood Blvd, Swiss Ave. etc homes have "servant's quarters" there aren't usually signs. You might see some around Lower Greenville/Henderson (Vickery Place) and in Junius Heights. You might also check with Dallas Theological Seminary or Criswell College to see if they have any such listings on their student center walls. A lot of people around here like to rent to those students.
