again..Florida to Dallas here we come
just want to say thanks to the members of this forum.i have lived in south florida all my 33 years,and my fiance just got transfered to dallas.she starts work end of the month we will be there next week to look for homes.i was a manager for harley davidson for ten years and left my job to pursue a police officer position here.does anyone know how hard it is to get in to the dept. here in the dallas area.also we have no children yet...but are not big nightlife people anyway. we are thinking of plano,flower mound,or grapevine areas.thanks alot again to everyone i already feel at home. after being really nervous.

Sweet gig. Why did you leave ? I don't think you'd have any problems getting into the dept here. I see them advertise for officers in the newspaper.

well my dealer went from small family feel to big corporate feel the last year i was there.ask any of the employees 2 years ago they would taken a bullet for the owner he is truely a great man.you seem to have the areas to live down pat.your replies have been very helpful.

haha thanks.also do you have emission test on all vehicles or just older ones

You will probably not have a problem at all getting a job w/ any of the area pd's. Many have some pretty nice signing bonuses. Talk to several, drive around those cities and see which one you'd prefer to work in.
As for the emissions testing on vehicles, actually a car that is 2 years old has to get it. It is the much older cars that are exempt  , those are the ones probably doing the most damage. Go to texas.gov to find out everything about obtaining a license, moving and what all you need to know.
