Does anyone have any recommendations for great OB/GYNs in or around the McKinney area or McKinney Medical Center? How about the medical center itself...their website makes it sound like a great place and it looks like they have a level II NICU? We just relocated to the McKinney/Frisco area and my wife is due with our first in January! My wife prefers a female OB/GYN but if a great male one exists she could deal with that too.

We also prefer a doctor that does not schedule all deliveries by C-Section so they can have their weekends off...we have heard some horror stories from friends. Thanks in advance!!

I don't know any OB/GYN's in McKinney, but you shouldn't have any problem finding a dr who doesn't schedule c-sec all the time if you stay in that area. Plano is known as the #1 city in Texas for planned c-sec, so stay out of Plano. I begged my dr for an inducement when I was pregnant a few months ago, but he wouldn't do it. I had PUPPP which is an allergic reaction to the baby, and I was miserable, but he didn't think it warranted inducing or c-sec. I'm glad all my begging didn't sway him!

Congrats!

We see Dr. Pauline Petrovski at Centennial in Frisco (121 & Coit). My sister in law recently started going there.

We're due Christmas day. Another doctor in the office is oncall that day, but she's oncall right after that. And said she'd be there if I needed a c-section. She has privileges at Centennial and Plano Presby, but our doula said that Presby has a 50% c-section rate and they try very hard to have all deliveries during business hours. Centennial is a bit more relaxed.

Do you need a Level II NICU?

Thanks for all the information so far! We do not need a level II NICU, but I just saw it as something that made McKinney Medical Center stand out a little from the rest. Does Centennial have private birthing suites and postpartum rooms?

Cortney Trylovich delivered one of my grand babies and now we have another on the way. My Daughter-in-law really likes her. Trylovich is Plano Presby and my son's family lives in McKinney. Don't know if she's taking on new patients.

We haven't toured yet, but according to their literature:

9 LDR suites, 2 ORs, and 20 antepartum/postpartum rooms, all private. The LDR suites have private baths with shower, phone, cable TV, and sleeper chairs.

Level III NICU and 32 bed normal nursery

And now apparently a 'concierge service'

They also have a Celebration Dinner for mom and partner...

I would never use Dr. Allen's office ever again, they are all about money and not about the patient. You can expect to have a scheduled doctor office visit and sit for hours waiting to be seen, but God forbid you have something come up and try to reschedule your appointment or you are late for your scheduled appointment that you will sit in there waiting room for over an hour anyways before being seen if they wont try to slap you with a no show fee. These people are ridiculous, they charge you seperately for things that they claim are not pregnancy related, maybe you should disclose this to your patients before hand and give them the choice to have these tests run on them or ultrasounds performed. They overbook and find loopholes to charge you outside of your initial copay to pay for there lifestlye and first class new office building. The receptionists all have attitudes as well. I can remember times I was sent to the hospital instead of the office and arrived to the hospital and the hospital had no idea that I was coming. Then I would call the office or the hospital would call the office and they had no clue as to what was going on. I was so stressed throughout this pregnancy due to the issues I had with this Doctor office that no pregnant women should endure, and they had no remorse what so ever.

I would say that Centennial was an amazing hospital to have my first child at. The nurses were amazing, the lactation specialist made my life so much easier. I have been in many hospitals and this one was so calming and peaceful. Good luck to all you new mommies and I pray that you have a better experience than I had.
