People in Dallas are more concerned with money than race. If you have money or pretend to at least, you are in the club.

A more kindly verson... people in Dallas... and everywhere else... are more concerned with social class... their own, whatever it is... than race. Like people everywhere, they spend their time with people with similar experience, values, and general view of life.

Certainly. I found a greater proportion of materialism in Dallas than anywhere else. Not to say it is bereft of good people- plenty of those. But conspicuous consumption rules down there.

Addison. And no, I am not using Addison as the sole statistical sample. In any case, I do not think it is seen as a big deal down there. People in that region like their money and toys and are quite open about it.

To say an area that has a higher percentage of whites to minorities automatically is discriminatory is unfounded.

Intense, you started this thread asking if "segregation was a problem in Dallas or not". Maybe to you segregation means that there is an overrepresentation of whites and an underrepresentation of minorities, but asking if we're segregated can be interpreted like you're asking if we still uphold Jim Crow laws or are actively keeping minorities out.
I suggest that you move to an area that you can afford and that offers the best commute, conveniences and educational programs that you can find, regardless of local diversity. Bottom line: cities that lack diversity need minorities to move in. If minorities can afford a home in a town that is less diverse but closer to work and they choose to live further away because the demographics are more appealing, they're not helping the situation. By avoiding 'white' towns, those towns stay white.
Just my .02.

Good post Kitty and quite true. I would say the worst thing you could say about Dallas is that its "deceptively White." By that I mean that at first glance it seems like a very White bred place. Take a real look and you see that its actually quite diverse and with little or no tensions thereof.

Dallas deceptively white? In certain areas yes but not as a whole. I guess it just depends on what area you live in.

Huh?
You obviously do not live in Plano or Frisco.
I challenge you to go eat at the IHOP on Preston across from Stonebriar Mall on Sunday Morning. Or observe the Starbucks on Plano Parkway/Midway during the weekday mornings. Or just visit Stonebriar Mall. Or any of the daycare centers up and down Midway.
