Default Highland Park or Galleria

My husband and are planning on moving shortly. Our question is Highland Park- Dallas or Galleria - Houston. We are in our early 30's young professionals.

We really enjoy playing tennis and would like to join a tennis club in the area.

I would greatly appreciate feedback thanks!!

How much to do want to spend? Highland Park may be out of your price range. Tennis is popular here. You should be able to find a club.

I am looking to spend about $1500 - $2000. I am trying to limit my commute to work and to other stuff to do there.

Your looking at apartments then. Not much in the way of rentals in the Park Cities (Highland Park & University Park).

Work - downtown? Then try Uptown, Knox/Henderson, Mockingbird Station, M Streets, Lakewood. You will find more apartments, condo's, townhomes and single family houses for rent in these areas.

Highland Park is clean and pristine.

Houston has the lack of zoning that (imo) plagues Houston including Galleria area. A prime example in the Galleria area is the bright pink building of Zone D'Erotica smack-dab in front of the Galleria on Westheimer. This would never in Dallas; and absolutely not in HP. This may not bother you, but the clutter of it bothers me.

Lack of zoning in Houston makes the city feel more "free" IMO. Less government telling you what you can & can't do.

I personally like the chaotic & gritty urban look of Houston versus a for the most part, a sterile looking Dallas.
