Good point Bostonian! It's funny how we get sucked into that crap with the 200 channels. I think the duplication is supposed to be HD channels. I just canceled direct tv after one day. I realized out of 200 so call channels I only watch about ten of them. What a rip off! T.V. and phone service are the biggest shake down gangstas out there. What happened to the days when we were kids and if you bought a t.v. and had an antenna you got to watch t.v. and it was clear. Now u gotta pay for stupid antenna service even to get anything at all!

I've never used AT&T or Verizon. But I HATE TW!!!! Too bad they are the only one available in the areas I lived in. It takes them 3 or more times just to set it up correctly everytime I move. The bill is complicated. Horrible customer service also.

signed up for U-verse install on home we bought in Hurst area
not sure if having installer come before we are actually moved in is going to be worth it
also can/does anyone split a signal from a U-verse box to another tv?
we have some rooms/tvs that will only be used about 15 days a year--seems like total waste of money to pay for a cable box 365 days for them...

If you are used to Verizon, you are going to hate either one.

I think Verizon has best service from what I have heard. I am stuck with the choice of ATT or TWC. Currently using TWC for 10 mbps HSI, it an ok service. TWC TV service sucked and its overpriced so I canceled it!
On thing to note both TWC and ATT will be introducing bandwith cap for internet some. TWC will be 40 gb for top Tier per month. ATT will 80gb for top DSL and 150 gb for U-verse. I tend to download alot of HD content and watch streaming netflix movie, so the cap will affect me. Most people, I will admit won't hit because they don't download HD contect or watch streaming movies much.
Note Verizon has no plan for bandwidth limit. Next time I move, I will be sure to be in Verizon service area!

Ya Verizon is AWESOME!!! Especially Fios! We love it! TWC is HORRIBLE!! We use to have it, but cancelled it shortly after and I know a ton of other people who had service with them and cancelled it.

how big a bandwidth do you need to download from Netflix
I thought the fastest U-Verse would be enough...

I hate Time warner. The HD selection is small compare to other services like Fios or Dish. I just moved and transfered my Timewarner service to the house I moved to. They charged me $99 for a transfer/setup fee! I should of just signed up for Fios or Direct TV. I plan on getting rid of Time Warner soon.

It is always better to have the installer to work on the solution when you're there so that you can make sure they their job to your satisfaction and that the end product, the TV viewing experience is to your liking. Otherwise scheduling them to come out again would be an inconvenience to your time.
Splitting the signal from a U-verse box to another TV might be possible but that 2nd TV would follow what was displayed in the first TV. Are you going to centralized the stb to a spot where the 2 TVs are able to access the box? The remote on the uverse stb is IR based, not RF, so any obstruction to the signal is not going to work.
Anyways ATT was giving our additional stb for free the last time I had the service, do you have to rent additional boxes now?
