Lake Forest Community, North Dallas
Hello all:
What can you knowledgeable members tell me about this gated community? We are considering a move to Dallas and want to live near work in newer homes (~10 years old max). From what we gather so far, these are mostly zero-lot homes. How do people cope with that when you have rambunctious 6- and 3-year old girls...
Any other helpful thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Well, I drive by it a lot! Up and down Hillcrest and there it is. Ha, not much info, huh? It used to be the grounds of the company EDS. I don't know anyone who lives there though. Sorry!

Well since it is a gated community in a small area you may not be as lucky to find the residents on this forum.
Maybe you should post a new question asking in general what people think about zero lot line homes. I know there are more out there on just south of loop 12 south of northpark mall in a nice neighbor hood and there are others near or in the park cities.
If you repost a more general question you may have more luck.
Sorry I couldn't help either. I know a sales man that lives in the community but we are just aquaintances

i used to live there, 2004-2005. the community is very nice, there are several open areas inside the gates including trails, 2 small lakes, tennis courts, and a community pool. Overall its very safe and private, there are occasional helicopter landings at the hospital a block away. Beware who the builder was as most did a very good job but, one (the original developer) did a poor job and many of us had to independently fix faults of poor building execution,

Lake Forest
I currently live in The Parks (the smaller patio home section of Lake Forest). Lake Forest is a very nice place to live (nice neighbors and quick commute to downtown). Also, because it is gated, it is a very safe neighborhood. An added benefit is that the homes in The Parks have appreciated nicely over the past several years. This is most likely due to the fact that Lake Forest residents can commute to downtown in under 20 minutes and commute to the Galleria area in under 10 minutes.
Finally, most of the patio homes in The Parks are in Richardson Independent School District, and not Dallas Independent School District. Accordingly, your kids will attend the excellent schools in RISD.
