Actually Both Richland and the Collin County Community college campus have pretty good programs. In the real world, no one will ever care where your degree is from. Of the four best performers I know two have degrees, one never went to college, and one didn't finish high school.
It is all about the audition, so go where you can afford to, and where you will learn, not where is best. Each of our area schools has something to recommend them. Rich land has good facilities, and a good staff, but you will have to leave to finish your degree, CCCCD is probably the best of the two year schools. SMU is good, but frankly no better than UNT and much more expensive. UTD isn't as well known, but does have Curchack on staff who is sort of the Gordon Ramsay of theatre. First class talent, first class teacher, third class human being

An ex once burned his house down, he is a hard guy to like, and KNOWS how good he is. In the DFW area probably TCU has the very best program.
Most importantly, realaize that most education is done in the real world, so audition, audition for everything, audition for everyone, make copnnections. Much work is not even auditioned for. Directors and producers, often start by calling actors they know, and only have auditions when they get stuck. I know I cast my last show half by calling the people I though were right. I've already half cast my next show that way. the good part of this is once you get a couple parts, people will start calling you as well as you having to audition. Always Always audition, you will learn more from even a bad audition or a bad theatre experience than from years of training.
Also go into this knowing most actors never make a living from it, and be prepared to work at something else to live. Particularly don't have any illusion of being a TV or Movie only actor, unless you are a star, these creatures don't exist, you have to work where the jobs are, for money, and more importantly for the resume, and there are 100 theatre roles for each TV or Movie role.
Be prepared for a great time. Local Professional theatre is hard work, but more fun than anything else in the world.
