Lifertexan and Momof2DFW.

Just kidding. I really like the availibility of nice affordable semi-custom homes and being able to build one to your liking. In the end, you have something that looks like it should grace the pages of Southern Living Magazine....there aren't many places you can buy/build homes as nice as the ones they build here.

Quality of Life.

Awesome homes at insanely cheap prices coupled with a plethora of jobs. Add in a dash of great restaurants, a pinch of plenty of entertainment (Pro Sports, Concerts, Plays), and a big dose of outdoor festivals (art festivals, steak festivals, state fair, food and wine festivals, etc).

Dallas has been a rejuvenating place for me... twice.

I moved here in the 80's from NM with my parents and then in 2004 from CO with my wife. On both occassions life was "less than optimal" when we arrived. Within a year or two of moving to Dallas our lives made a complete 180. We've prospered emotionally and financially both times.

Very clean, nice school districts. Warm winters, Dallas blooms at the arboretum, our wonderful symphony and the new musuems and development in uptown and the arts district.

Of course I wouldn't be the first to name a million good things about D-town, but the city has its strong points.

I like Dallas for it's skyline, sports teams, and whatever Ft. Worth or Arlington doesn't have, Dallas has it.

Totally agree...I'm on my second "go-round" in the Dallas area too after having lived here the first time in the late 80s after college. I returned in 2000 after living in NYC for 8 years. I feel very grounded here and can take a deep breath and relax, so to speak. It's been very good for me emotionally, spiritually and financially also.

This hasn't been brought up in a while, so I'm curious as to what my fellow Dallasites think of the city.

Things I like: numerous. Cheap housing compared with other major markets. More restaurants per capita than anywhere else. The new Victory Park developement. The symphony. The Humpreys theatre. The Arboritum. Strolling White Rock Lake where there's not a lot of trash. The Bishops Arts district in Oak Cliff. The Nasher Sculpture Garden downtown. And of course, my Dallas Cowboys.

Things I dislike: TRAFFIC! A divided city (N. v. S.), a city government that at times barely seems to function due to all the squibbling. The Dallas Appraisal district(though this is really the county), property taxes (part of this is the state). Illegal aliens who drive illegal cars illegally. The plethora of people here who can't speak English. Crime (though this is getting better)
