My youngest son is an August birthday. We went ahead and sent him even tho the cutoff was Sep. 1st. He's now in 6th grade at age 11 and does just fine, both academically and socially. We were worried that if we held him back, he would be bored and what if we moved (military family) to a state that had a late cut-off, like CA, I think it's Dec. 31st or was at the time he was entering K. If we had held him back, he would have been more than a year older than his classmates.

Hi, I'm going thru the same thing. The cut off is Sept the !st in Florida and that means that my daughter will have to wait a whole year inorder to start school, however I spoke to someone from one of the schools there and they said that if she started school in NJ for kindergarten and then I transfered her, that they could not put her back a grade, that she could stay in the kindergarten. So the answer to your question should be the same that your daughter will be safe. Just call the scholl animiously ans ask questions.

My son turns 5 on September 3rd. But the cut-off in Texas for Kindergarten is September 1st. Has anybody in Dallas, Plano, Irving, Frisco had this same situation ?? If so, are there any schools(private or charter) that you can suggest where he can get enrolled for Kindergarten and then join the regular public schools ?? Please Let me know. Thanks in advance.

If your husband works downtown, why put him through the hellish commute? Check out the schools in Lakewood and North Dallas -- see any of my posts on Lakewood..

I had a friend who lived in Sunnyvale but grew up on Swiss Avenue - she couldn't wait to leave Sunnyvale and put her kids in the East Dallas schools.
