builder
Hubby went through a house that he liked today, strange thing is the builder - the realtor at the open house did not know anything about him. Any locals that might give me some info? I did a web search, nothing.

If it's a resale, hard to tell. May be a small indie builder. Hard to say if that is good or bad. Since he represents the seller, have him talk to the seller and see what they (or a nieghbor) knows about this builder. Or, when all else fails....google.

What county is the property in? You can find some info at county records or appraisal district sites.

It's a rebuild and when I checked the dcad, an investment company is listed. I find it strange that the listing agent couldn't tell my husband much at all about the builder.

There has been a custom home builder around the upper areas of Dallas named Sheffield for a LONG time, early 80's at least. I don't remember the first name though. I remember the name from my dad doing construction work and my mom in the real estate biz.

You can search the online Real Estate records for Dallas county at http://www.realestate.countyclerk.dallascounty.org/ click on "Official Public Records" Under the Search heading on the left. That might provide some additional insite into the builder. (Unfortunately for me, I can't install the latest version of Java to see the docs that the search returned.)

I don't think so unless they are starting to build in Dallas. I'm bookmarking the site just in case, thank you!

Seems odd that if it's new nobody knows anything about the builder.
Maybe the sales person can give you a phone number to call. May be some small guy that also works. Buys land, builds a few homes, then moves on to the next plot.
Somebody should know something about this guy. BBW ?
