Ahh, the French Room............ hm, something glistening in the low light.

I do know someone that did get engaged there. You can go early and take her thru Neiman Marcus at the other end of the block.
Okay, try some local flavor. Here are just a few places I can think of. When you get here pick up a DMagazine and read thru it to see what all is going on in the area and read the restaurant guide for some other ideas.
LaDuni - Latin food and known for the beautiful and scrumptious deserts and pastries. Located down in the Knox-Henderson, McKinney Ave area.
Chuy's - tex-mex and great margarita's. Located in the Knox-Henderson area right off of 75-Central Expwy.
Luna de Noche - tex-mex and great margarita's. Several locations around Dallas w/ the closest probably being on Forest Ln at Central Expwy (Northwest corner).
Ozona - hamburgers, nachos, tacos, salads, brunch. Outdoor patio is great. Located on Greenville Ave just South of Mockingbird. Great brunch and more of the neighborhood hangout feel. Attire: jeans, tshirt, ballcap and sandals (male and female).
Suede - bar w/ a few local acts performing. Upstairs patio. Located on lower Greenville.
Aw Shucks - local "dive" w/ seafood. Located on Greenville Ave.
Fish City Grill - small low-key place w/ nice ambiance. Several locations around.
Fish - AWESOME!!! Place. Gosh, can't think of the street it is on. Should be listed in DMagazine.
Blue Mesa Grill - tex-mex and great brunch. Locations in Addison, Frisco and Dallas on Greenville Ave.
Jake's Hamburgers - "dive" w/ good hamburgers. Several locations around w/ the closest being on Skillman just south of Abrams.
Oceanaire - since your doing the French Room you may want to pass on this one as it is also $$$$$$$. Located right down from the Galleria on the Dallas North Tollway. But you will hear nothing but GREAT things about it.
Bob's Steak and Chophouse - Lemon Ave. The see and be seen crowd is here. Depends on your "ranking" where you sit here. Great steaks though.
S&D Oyster Co. - McKinney Ave. Local place that has been around for over 30 years. Small and casual but some GREAT food, killer cajun bbq shrimp.
The Ghost Bar at the new W hotel near Victory Park.
This is just a few and I'll try and post some more for ya.
