Broadband Reports, a widely used forum for all things telephony, internet and other stuff.
For the responders suggesting Verizon's FiOS. Telephone companies such as Verizon and AT&T are what is called an
incumbent local exchange carriers - ILECs. In the Dallas area Verizon was formerly known as GTE and AT&T was formerly known as Southwestern Bell, formerly a subsidiary of AT&T, now the owner of same.
As an ILEC, these carriers could/can offer service ONLY in their respective service areas. For Verizon, that would be predominantly to the north Dallas, Irving, Fort Worth and was recognized as the 972 area code. The 214 and 817 area codes were/are Southwestern Bell. Those territories will never cross, unless of course, the now defunct Congress chooses to change telephony regulations. The FCC has ruled that these ILECs do not need to line share in their fiber optic areas. Line share is allowing a DLEC - data local exchange carrier to
share the ILEC facility. Covad is a DLEC, leasing the existing facility for data purposes only. Internet service is a data service.
Verizon offers FiOS.
AT&T offers uVerse.
The original OP indicated he did not want to bundle telephone service.
