I never went inside the freak shows but they always had someone come out front to try to lure you inside. I do remember Shelly, The Turtle Girl and Pop-Eye (he could make his eyes almost pop out). Urana, The Gorilla Girl was another separate show - I heard there was a girl in a cage and then she would 'grow hair' then she broke out of the cage and chased everyone out...

The art on the canvases out front was fascinating if not very realistic!

Before my time there were a lot of burlesque shows - some were euphemistically called 'fan dancers'.
Yes, I do remember some guy trying to lure in the public. I can't remember what he was called, but his face was extremely distorted. One of my nephews at the time was 4 years old and it made him cry.

That's completely untrue. Miami Beach has 960 designated historic art deco buildings in SoBe and certainly several hundred new ones - it is a veritable whole art deco city. Miami is very deco too now, picking up on the MB Deco hype.

Fair Park offers the world’s largest collection of 1930s Art Deco exposition buildings.

When I first came here I swore I read "largest collection of art deco buildings in the world" on some website and was a bit baffled have lived in SoBe for 3 (insane) years.

I lived in SoBe in the early 90s - it's nothing but Art Deco bldgs...and nicely restored, usable bldgs.

I thought Fair Park was 2nd largest concentration of Art Deco Bldgs.

My mistake! The largest collection of 1930's art deco.
