And since you're slow to catch on around here, please understand that I will make such "condescending insults", every time I come across a ridiculous, inciting, and ignorant post, such as "Las Colinas is not Westernmost Plain-O, thank god", or one like yours. I actually get along just fine with almost everyone here. It's posts like yours that will get such responses. Understood?
While I was reading that previous post as I was riding the short bus to work today (since I'm slow and all), I still noticed a bit of acidity in the post between the stats, but that's neither here nor there, cause I have my days on here too, so I understand .

Back on subject, since West Plano is obviously a higher income area than Las Colinas, what part of Plano would be more comparable to Las Colinas in terms of income? Central Plano (75023, $57,446)? East Plano (75074 $43,299)? The southern end by Park Blvd by the Central Expressway (75075, $63,049)? Or 75094, which might as well be Murphy, but has a Plano ZIP ($80,180)?

I guess I don't understand. Are you having trouble telling which numbers are bigger than others?

Let's see if I can help. 75074 at 43 is only 2K below the part of LC that has the country club. Ever seen 75074? Most of it is really, really bad.

75094 "might as well be Murphy"? There's another preposterous statement. Being close to Murphy doesn't mean it "might as well be Murphy". If the kids went to Murphy schools, you might have a point. But guess what? Murphy is within PISD.

OK, so here's your homework (and don't lick the windows on your way home): while this will not be perfectly accurate in terms of weighted averages, you're the one who decided to get cute with numbers. I want you to add 94,659, 109,352, 57,446, 43,299, 63,049, and 80,180. Then divide by 6.

Now add 62,726, 56,929, and 45,467, and divide by 3. Which number is bigger?

Now, keep in mind, I have nothing against LC or Irving at all. It's just that there were just comments about "LC is all about wealth", "I heard a 2 M dollar house burned down, so there must be wealthy people..", etc. that just didn't seem right to me, and when I checked them out, they just didn't validate those comments.

Lastly, I have no idea why you decided to take a shot at me when I was responding to a clearly incendiary post that had absolutely nothing to do with you whatsoever. It takes nothing more than a quick look at my previous comments to see that I respond to such posts in kind. Nothing in my response made any reference to being "smarter than everybody else". I'm just curious what made you decide to jump in and insult me as you did?

No. You fail. You didn't tell me which one is bigger.

(I refuse to use the little icons; pretend there's a cheerful yellow smiley face there)

But teacher, you made the test! You should know!

A) Plano

B) Las Colinas

Therefore, Plano, in general is more high income than Las Colinas.

I graduated from an Irving ISD school a few years ago.. it was alright at best. I lived south of 183 (Airport Fwy) and about half the children in my neighborhood went to private schools in Dallas. That's probably why the schools in 'better' areas don't really do well either. Most of my public school friends went on to graduate from college, so surely something must have been done right in Irving schools.

Or, you can spend 3 minutes right here on CD and find actual statistics.

Couple of West Plano zips: 75024, 75093 ; $94,659, $109,352 median household incomes respectively.

Irving (LC) 75063, 75039, 75062; $62,726, $56,929, $45,467

Yes, I suppose there are "some pretty wealthy folks" living in Las Colinas. But as we have been told, "it aint westernmost Plain-O"

To be honest, I was surprised at how low the incomes are in the Plano zips; I would have never guessed that. I would not dream of owning a home in either of these zips on a personal income that low, much less a household income. In fairness, I think that shows how strung out financially many people are. However, one of the Las Colinas zips showed median home prices in the mid-300's, which shows they are even more strung-out financially, unless I'm not interpreting the statistics correctly.
tycobb,

Are you more "westernmost" in Plano than I am?

almost any student who wants to get an education that is "allright" can probably do so--but there is nothing really attractive about spending a lot of money for a house in the Las Colinas area and paying high property tax and then paying extra to send children to private schools...
Irving has not found what works and frankly I think people like with the Chamber of Commerce are losing patience with their lackluster efforts...
it is difficult to advertise a town to attract business when the ISD is not that good...

well I live in Las Colinas, it is a nice area.
it really depends on what you want, Las Colinas is a couple of miles up the road in terms of diversity.
With the area being largely African(both Native and American), Asian (primarily South Asians and Koreans), and Mexican.
Irving itself, is also noted for its sizable Southeast asian population (IE: Vietnamese, Khmer, and Lao). Las Colinas is by no means inferior, but you want to stay towards the Northern Part of Las Colinas if you want to avoid IISD.
Plano is largely white with a huge Asian minority (Indian and Chinese).
The greater Las Colinas area is served by CFBISD, which is a pretty good school district depending on what school your child would attend. In this case it would be either: Las Colinas Elementary, or Freeman Elementary. Barbara Bush Middle School, and Ranchview High School.
All are exceptional.
You may also want to look in the Valley Ranch area, as well as Coppell, Carrollton, and Lewisville.

Even though I don't know exactly where you live, I'm more westiest, Kooter.

By the way - to those who live and have lived in VR/LC, I think it's a very nice, upscale place. Would have no problems living there whatsoever. If I were young and single, I would be especially attracted to the nice apartments there, but the homes and SF neighborhoods are great too.
