Plano or Irving?
My Fiancee and I are moving to Dallas next summer and are trying to decide between Plano and Irving. Wanted to know what the people are like in each city and what its like living there. And which one people would recommend moving too.

Are you talking actual Irving with would be Irving schools, or are you talking about the northern Irving communities known as Las Colinas and Valley Ranch which are NOT Irving schools?
If you're asking about main Irving, I would pick Plano any day, but it also depends on what you're looking for in a house as in age and price.

Plano if you have kids & Las Colinas if you're a single or engaged business professional.
Plano is very suburban where Las Colinas has more or an urban feel in a suburban like setting. Las Colinas also has its own "downtown" with a river walk & is located closer to downtown Dallas.
Coming from Seattle you would like the Las Colinas area a lot more IMO.

Kinda depends on why you're leaving Seattle. If you're not in love with Seattle, you won't necessarily like Irving better. I'm in Plano, from the Seattle "area", and I like it just fine. I do have kids though.

more "stuck up"/ stereotypical suburban types than in los colinas. if you are looking for an area with that STRONG subburban and moslty wealthy culture then plano. i personnaly could never invision my self living there though. irving is the closet you will probably ever get to inner dallas, without being in innner dallas. if anyone disagrees to that statement then i would love to have a discussion btw. haha.

My thoughts exactly! My husband and I lived in Plano for 6 months and we HATED it!
But if you have kids, and/or a lot of money, you will probably love Plano. Many people who live there never even leave the city limits, and very few ever venture south of 635, even to see the museums, zoo, etc.
