Between Dallas and Tyler
Hi all,
I am trying to find a place that would allow a reasonable commute to both Dallas and Tyler (~60 minutes to Dallas, ~75 minutes to Tyler). As I understand it, traffic in Dallas can be a challenge so I imagine the solution would mean living much closer to Dallas than Tyler. The only possibility I can identify (using Google maps) is Terrell, Texas. Does anyone have any input about living in Terrell and commuting from it, or suggestions of other locations?
Thank you,
WIET

Why are you commuting to both cities?
If the commute are equally frequent, I would choose something closer to Dallas as traffic are worse on that side compare to Tyler due to the size of the city.

I'm married. I'd be commuting one way and my wife would be commuting the other every day.

Terrell or somewhere in Kaufman county would probably be the only thing that makes sense if you're wanting somewhat equal drives.

Terrell is closer to Dallas, but traffic on I-20 going east towards Tyler can become a problem if a wreck or lane closure has occurred as it often does.

Much would depend on where in Dallas you will be headed - it's a big place! After you get to Dallas, you can drive another hour and still be in Dallas. Do you know yet what part of Dallas you'll be headed for? And even getting across Tyler (or around it on the loop) can take quite some time.

Gosh, I don't envy you at alll. It's a long drive either way. Terrell is the biggest city between the 2. Driving to Tyler from Terrell will be mostly highway but to Dallas you would still have to get through the city traffic.

It depends on two things....where in Tyler? where in Dallas?
We live close to Hwy 69 and I 20 and it takes us 1 hr 5 minutes to get to Mesquite...but if I'm going to DFW it takes another 45 minutes. Terrell would be a good choice....lot's of new homes and subdivisions in that area.

i grew up in Terrell, and think it's a fine place. You might also check out Wills Point, the next town to the east (assuming we don't count Elmo). There's a new development going up just off I20 called Shadow Lakes.
