I'm so excited! We're finally moving to Dallas :) Suggestions on a great pediatrician?
We're moving down in a few weeks -- right before Thanksgiving. I appreciate all the advice from this board on schools, neighborhoods and Dallas homes in general. We're going to stay with family for a couple of months while we continue our home search (and hopefully sell our home in Minneapolis).
My first concern is finding a really good pediatrician for our two girls. One is two and the other will be two months when we get there. I've heard there are some good ones at Medical City? Any recommendations? Our current pediatrician is phenomenal -- very smart, friendly and accesible, can quickly determine what's going on with your child and explains everything very well. In short, he notices things we aren't even aware of and provides excellent explanations and advice on how to approach various situations.
As always, I appreciate the help. In terms of where we will ultimately live -- we're back to focusing on Lake Highlands, Lakewood, North Dallas and Far North Dallas. My fingers are crossed for a good sized 5BR family home with a pool that doesn't cost a small fortune. We've decided against the suburbs so we'll see.
Thanks!

Dr. Jeffrey Berkowitz is located across from Plano Presby in far north Carrollton/Plano boarder. He is really good. We've used him since my son was a newborn and it has been 7 years. He is in practice with Dr. Gobel, Dr. Wong, and I think there is one other.

Welcome to Texas!! My husband is a transplant from North Dakota/Minnesota. His family still has a lakehouse on Ottertail Lake near Fergus Falls. It's so pretty up there!
I recommend Clinical Pediatric Associates. Our doctor is Dr. Heiber, but I really like all the doctors there. Their address is 8355 Walnut Hill Lane Suite 105 Dallas, TX 75231. They are a stone's throw away from Lake Highlands and across from Presbyterian Hospital.
On another note, I live in Lake Highlands and LOVE it. If you have any questions about the area, feel free to PM me. There are a couple of elementary schools you'll want to avoid, but other than that, you can't go wrong with the area! It's so family friendly and convenient to everything.

One more thing:
In Lake Highlands, look at Oak Highlands Estates for your 5 bedroom house. It's a gorgeous neighborhood!

You read my mind! The homes in Oak Highlands Estates are incredible. A little pricey, but they seem worth it. There's a beautiful one on the market now but it's a bit above our range. Any other parts of LH you recommend? I'm sure I'll PM you with more questions. I really love your area and hope I can convince my husband that we should buy there. Thanks!

Ahh...you too. I didn't know this.
Dr. McGonnell takes some getting used to - his bedside manner is a off, but it's because this guy is a genius!! He diagnosed a larvae rash that my 5 yr old had on his foot from Mexico - he had seen it in Brazil. Not even out dermatologist had seen it. Dr. McGonnell researched a medicine cream that had to be ordered and compounded - so I give him high marks although most parents I know who see him don't quite get him. But I think he's great.

I just don't think we've seen him yet. We usually see Dr. Straughn, occasionally we have seen Dr. Blair.
